Edward M. Yarbrough

Ed Yarbrough joined Walker, Tipps and Malone in 2010 after serving as United States Attorney for the Middle District Of Tennessee. Prior to his appointment as U.S. Attorney in 2007, Mr. Yarbrough was in private practice in Nashville for 31 years. Before entering private practice in 1976 he served as an assistant district attorney general for Davidson County, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt School of Law and Rhodes College.

In a legal career spanning almost four decades, Mr. Yarbrough has tried more than 150 jury cases to verdict, including more than 40 homicide cases. He has tried a wide variety of civil and criminal cases having both prosecuted and defended matters involving medical malpractice, personal injury torts, white collar criminal, wrongful death and public corruption in state and federal courts.

Mr. Yarbrough has been active in the Nashville Bar Association having served as president in 1983, board member in 1981-1983 and 2007-2009, and several terms as chair of the Criminal Court Committee. He has been named on numerous outstanding lawyer lists including SuperLawyers for both defense and prosecution, Nashville Post, Nashville Business Journal and he was listed in Best Lawyers in America for over 20 years. In 2010, Mr. Yarbrough was elected a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and received the Jack C. Norman Sr. award for excellence in the practice of criminal law  from the Nashville Bar Association.

Mr. Yarbrough served as an infantry lieutenant in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He was a ceremonial platoon leader at Arlington Cemetery while in The Old Guard and received the Bronze Star medal and Combat Infantry Badge for service in Vietnam.
