Joseph F. Welborn, III has been engaged in the practice of civil trial law since 1991. He has tried cases involving personal injury, civil rights claims, toxic tort, medical malpractice, contract disputes, real estate disputes, estate disputes, lender liability, and covenants not to compete. He has successfully represented plaintiffs and businesses in personal injury cases. In addition, he has experience in a broad variety of litigation matters, including the representation of public companies in class action securities cases; brokers and dealers before the NASD; shareholders in cases involving closely held corporations; beneficiaries, executors, contestants, and estates in estate dispute cases; and businesses and individuals in intellectual property litigation.
Mr. Welborn is a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Tennessee Association for Justice. He graduated cum laude from Rhodes College in 1988 and earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee in 1991. He was Editor on the Tennessee Law Review and was named to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Welborn was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve, Judge Advocate General Corps, until his retirement from service in 2001.
