Mark Tipps has been a trial lawyer since 1985, and his practice includes virtually all types of commercial civil litigation. During his career, Mr. Tipps has tried cases involving a variety of subject matters, including personal injury claims (plaintiff and defendant), environmental property damage claims, federal tax penalties, product liability, municipal annexation, copyright infringement claims, RICO violations, and minority shareholder rights.
Mr. Tipps is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, cum laude, in 1982, and received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee Law School in 1985. Mr. Tipps was an Editor of the Tennessee Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.
In 1995, Mr. Tipps became Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Bill Frist (Tenn.) in Washington, D.C. He served as Senator Frist's chief advisor for two years. In 1997, Mr. Tipps served as Deputy Chief Counsel to U.S. Senator Fred Thompson (Tenn.) during the Senate special investigation of campaign fundraising in the 1996 presidential election. Mr. Tipps also practices in the area of federal government relations.
